The Dolder Grand is a 129-year-old hotel in Zurich, Switzerland, with a breathtaking location and 175 rooms, it is also said to be a historical place as because the European royal families have made their stay during the war years while Winston Churchill, Roger Moore, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, and Luciano Pavarotti were guests at the hotel post-war. It states itself to be the world’s first five-star hotel that accepts cryptocurrencies for payment and keeping the historical pride paced with technology and innovation for its guests.
André Meier, Finance Director at the hotel said, “Many of the improvements in our service in recent years were made possible by advances in technology. As we believe Bitcoin is here to stay, it only seems natural to offer more choices in the payment process.”
It partnered with Swiss fintech firm Inacta AG for a project that would let the guests make the payments for hotel bookings, food and beverages tab, and spa. Inapay - a mobile application developed by Inacta converts the transactions made in Bitcoin to the fiat currency (Swiss franc or euro) for the hotel.

Casual Hoteles started their adventure with cryptocurrency in the year 2019 by accepting Bitcoin payments from their guests at their Casual Málaga del Mar Hotel.
The Hotel committed to having co-occurred with the acceptance of innovation and technology along with up-gradation in their services. The hotel renovated with wireless mobile charging capabilities in their rooms, and also opted for different modes of payment including Bitcoin.
The process for the payment in Bitcoin includes scanning the QR code on the website of the company or at the reception of the hotel, also the customer can request for payment code or an invoice through Whatsapp for the settlement of the bill. The digital invoice is then settled by the transaction of Bitcoin through BitPay. The company then converts the Bitcoin into equivalent currency in Euros.
3. Sandman Hotels, Canada, USA, UK and Ireland

Sandman Hotel Group is a Vancouver-based hotel while it is owned by the Northland Properties Company and operates 56 hotels in 4 countries. It is stated to be one of the early adopters for accepting bitcoin as payment for transactions in the year 2014.
Salim Kassam, Vice President of Marketing for Sandman Hotel Group said, “Our hotels had a number of enquiries regarding payment through alternative payments including bitcoin. As a customer-focused company with an eye on technology, we decided to incorporate this emerging technology as a payment option.”
The process of the payment in Bitcoin includes simply choosing the payment option in Bitcoin on the website of the hotel and then the customer receives a digital invoice for transaction upon which the bitcoin is transferred to the hotel’s account and the reservation is confirmed. The company converts the Bitcoin instantly into equivalent currency in Canadian dollars.
The process of the payment and transaction is conducted by Coinbase - which is one of the known and leading companies that facilitates Bitcoin wallets and payment services.
